Support groups

COVID-19 has impacted support groups and other events. For information, please call the phone number listed with the support group.

Sometimes just being able to share thoughts and concerns with people who really understand helps patients cope with illness and changes in their lives.

Iredell Health System provides or sponsors the following support groups.

Better Breathers Club

A support group for people living with pulmonary disease. Meets from 10:30 a.m. to noon on the 3rd Monday of each month in Iredell Health System's Outpatient Services Building community classroom, 739 Hartness Road, Statesville, NC. No registration required.

Diabetes Support Group

Held the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at Iredell Wellness & Diabetes Center, 285-D North Main Street, Troutman. Groups are open to anyone with any type of diabetes and participants are welcome to bring a friend or family member. No registration is necessary.

Groups are led by a nurse, a dietitian, or both.

Heart Matters Cardiac Support Group

Education and support for cardiac patients & families. Meets 2:30 - 3:30 pm on the 2nd Wednesday of each month in Iredell Health System's Outpatient Services Building community classroom, 739 Hartness Road, Statesville, NC. For more information, call 704.878.4558.

Iredell MOMS

An online support group for new mothers, especially those who are breastfeeding. Led by Rhea Lamb, RN, our lactation nurse, and Pam Speight, RN, program nurse for The Birth Place. Join at https://www.facebook.com/YourPamperedPregnancy/.

Living With Cancer

Meets on the 4th Tuesday of each week in the hospital's One West Living Room. Cancer patients and a guest are invited to attend for fellowship, information and lunch. There is no charge.

At meetings, the group:

  • Laughs together
  • Shares common (and not-so-common) problems
  • Develops new friendships
  • Prays for each other
  • Listens to each other — really listens!
  • Learns relaxation techniques
  • Learns to take LIFE one day at a time and enjoy it to the fullest
